Giuseppe Dio is an Italian electronic music composer and scenic photographer who released his first full-length album in 2016 titled Lights, Shadows and Colors. While his debut album was characterized by chilled trance grooves and catchy synth melodies, he soon followed it up in 2018 with the considerably more subdued and tonally amorphous Imaginary Flights, which omitted drumbeats altogether.

Similarly comprised of dreamily drifting expanses, Giuseppe’s third release is an outstanding EP titled Space Explorations. Climbing another level up from its predecessor both in concept and composition, we venture even further out beyond the earth’s orbit to embark on a deep space sojourn. Clocking in at a little under 30 minutes, the album’s six compositions paint images of floating astronauts and orbiting satellites amid encompassing cosmic vistas, as crystalline textures and vaporous tones form slowly-shifting metamorphic melodies of cinematic beauty.

Following in the musical footsteps of legendary composers Jonn Serrie, Michael Stearns and Kevin Braheny, Space Explorations is highly recommended to fans of classic ambient-space music. A potential rising star in the field to keep an eye on, hopefully we’ll see a full-length album in this style from Giuseppe Dio in the not-too-distant future!
